Lagunitas School District / San Geronimo Valley Community Center

The Lagunitas School District benefits from a unique relationship with the San Geronimo Valley Community Center (SGVCC) that makes it one of just a small handful of Community Schools in Marin County. The SGVCC provides a range of classes, events, and services to San Geronimo Valley residents of all ages, but has a unique partnership with Lagunitas unlike any other in Marin.

What is a Community School?

β€œA community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Community schools offer a personalized curriculum that emphasizes real-world learning and community problem-solving. Schools become centers of the community and are open to everyone – all day, every day, evenings and weekends.” - Coalition for Community Schools
