Laura Shain joined the Lagunitas School District as Principal of our two schools in 2011. She was drawn to our district for the opportunity to lead in a setting that held to its progressive educational values while evolving to meet the current learning needs of students.
Laura's prior experience with educational leadership and teaching was in Pacifica, California. There, the public school district's K-8th grade schools were defined by extensive parent participation, creative arts, and innovative approaches to learning.
Originally from Upstate New York, Laura found the joy of learning at Bard College where she studied painting, as part of her studies toward a liberal arts degree. After a move to California, she attended San Francisco State University, receiving a teaching credential and a Master's Degree in school administration.
Laura sees the importance of relationships at Lagunitas as central to our dynamic community. She welcomes all opportunities to connect with students and families as we share an active role in creating an educated citizenry.
